Cheers

Hello Cheers everyone! Well my thumb is ok I'm on a regular bandaid now as it's stopped bleeding yay but I'll have to bandage it up before I go to sleep, it's still painful but I think it's improving. My 'nurse' hubby has been working wonders helping me..I still can't put pressure on it but it's amazing what you can do with your other fingers and thumb :)

So today I was able to make this cute little wine label. I saw one on a blog recently and I thought I'd have a go myself with my own design. On the blog they cut everything by hand but thanks to the Cricut Craft room it was made a lot easier as I could use Art Philosophy to cut the banner pieces and then cut out a circle in 2 different sized pieces. When these were cut they were glued together and folded at about 3 inches from the top. I used a scrap of red and a scrap of striped paper. I went through my stash and I found the perfect thing with the Cheers Santa label it was on a sheet of paper I got last year on clearance so I cut this out and stuck that to the striped part and then I used Artiste to cut out the bow, I love these 3D bows they are so nice. I put the bow together and then used a sparkly silver button on the bow. I'm looking forward to dressing up our wine bottle with this at Christmas and then I'll use it on a scrapbook page, maybe of us drinking our glass of wine with dinner.

2 more Christmas cards

Hello here are 2 cards I made late yesterday. I am glad I can still do my papercrafting. I can't do my knitting though with a big bandage over my thumb grrr..but at least I can do my first crafty love which is papercrafting so there is something to be happy about : ).

These cards were just quick ones really. I had a scrap of burlap left from my dog treat jar so I placed that over some red and white dot paper onto a green card, then a scrap of striped paper. I cut a tree from Art Philosophy in 2 layers and added a star gemstone. I stamped Happy Holidays using a set of stamps I won recently on a blog hop from Market Street Stamps I was thrilled about that!

The second card is also from the stamp set I won, it's nice and simple and can be mailed with just regular postage and doesn't need a padded bag. I stamped the light strings in black and then the lights in various inks I added some glitter pen just for accent. That went onto a red card.

Thanks for looking, have a great day.

Merry Woofmas

Hello everyone I am really pleased to be able to show you something I made today, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do any crafting today due to my injured thumb but I surprised myself and it helped get my mind off the nasty pain. So here is an item I re purposed or up cycled. I saved this Applesauce jar a while back and thought I could fill it with dog treats for one of the dogs, Ginger, I walk for Christmas. I had some Burlap I bought a while back last time we took a trip to Joanns and I decided to use that to wrap around my jar, I hot glued that in place. I used my Cricut (Artiste) to cut out the label. I printed the greeting in Publisher on green and then used Create a Critter to cut out the cute dog in 2 layers. I used Joys of the Season to cut out the little Santa hat. I hot glued these onto the side and cut a 2.25 inch circle from a scrap of striped paper for the top. Inside are some dog treats but I need to buy a few more. Trader Joe's have some dog treats shaped like Gingerbread men usually at Christmas and I know Miss Ginger loves these, so I must add these to my shopping list.

advent calendar

Here is another project I made recently, it's for Greg, I wanted to make him a special advent calendar. The funny thing is we were in Home Goods the other day and Greg bought me the chocolate advent calendar in teh back of the picture and he had no idea I was making him one.Mine is made using boxes all cut from my Artiste Cartridge and then scalloped circles and numbers on each one. Each one holds a little gift. Greg was thrilled when he saw it and is eagerly awaiting December 1. Thanks for looking : )

Christmas tree

Hello Happy Monday! I wanted to show you the table centerpiece my lovely Greg and I made together over the long weekend, I am so proud of it and love it and think it looks amazing! Greg saw one in Target and I loved it and he suggested we make one together! We bought the foam tree and little stand (which is a small tin) from Michaels and then the baubles and tinsel from Target, all the baubles were hot glued around the tree with tinsel in between. They go perfect with our reindeer and candles, Merry Christmas!!

Christmas crackers

Hello I made these lovely Christmas crackers today for our Christmas table. I think they look much better than store bought and they are not a big thing in America although we did see some at World Market but they appeared to be from the U.K. I am used to having a Christmas cracker at Christmas as like the U.K, Australia always have them on the tables : )
So I used Artiste to cut out the crackers, I put the snap in before I assembled them a well as a joke and a little gift. Greg put my joke and gift in mine without me seeing : ). I used patterned papers and then tied tuille and ribbon around the ends. I then decorated with some rosettes that I made from Artiste, some 3D stickers I had in my stash and a wooden santa and button for the rosettes. Thanks for looking.

Cutlery holders

Hello I had some time this afternoon so I made these cutlery holders for Christmas. Last week Greg got a catalogue in the mail and he saw these made out of felt and he said maybe you could make these for our Christmas table out of paper on your Cricut. I thought it was a great idea and I made my own variation. I used Art Philosophy to cut out the cards and Artiste to cut out the Rosettes. I hot glued 2 of the sides down to form a pocket and then cut out strips of green cardstock. I then hot glued the rosette on and put a cute little reindeer button on top. I stamped the greeting on an angle on the bottom left corner. I thought these turned out quite nice and look forward to putting them out on our Christmas table : )

Christmas gift in a card!

Good morning! I finished one of my little treat cards off this morning before I get going with the day. They turned out so great. I cannot take all the credit though I worked on team Greg and Lindsey for this : ) It took a little while to get the insert just right but Greg is so nice the way he helped me and clever. He's the best hubby! He designed the insert on the Cricut Craft room for me so it fit everything just right! The card is also designed on the Craft room and cut from Artiste. For the front I layered with a cute stripy paper then used Artiste again to cut the label and the little banner. I stamped the snowman onto the label then again on white and coloured him in and cut him out. The banner was stamped with a mini greeting and adhered using 3D dots.I stamped in the middle too and then put ribbon through the slits to hold the hot chocolate sachet and the little lip balm went in the special holder along the spine. I added a velcro square to hold it all together when closed. Hope you like my gift in a card!

more cards for the nursing home

Hello glad it's Wednesday that means only 2 more days till weekend! No time for crafting today but these are 2 I made yesterday. These are another 2 for the Nursing home, I cut 2 cards from Artiste on blue cardstock. for the first one I used the Cricut Craft Room to make my own little cut out aperture of "Jingle Bells". I placed some glitter paper underneath for some sparkle! I added some ribbon and tied on a jingle bell with some twine.
For the second card I embossed it through my Cuttlebug with the swiss dots folder. I used a stamp set I'd had for a while to stamp a repeated line of baubles and coloured those in. I matted this onto a scrap of blue patterned paper and then stamped Joy. I added some ribbon to finish. Not sure how many more I'll have time to make for the home as they need to get in the mail soon so they arrive in Australia in plenty of time for Santa to deliver to the residents, but so far so good : ) Have a nice day!

Cards for the nursing home

Hello everybody, I wanted to show you 2 cards I finished this morning. I decided to make some cards for the nursing home where my Nanna's long time partner used to live before he passed away just recently. Last year I did the Caring Hearts Card Drive here and sent some cards to the organizer to give out to the residents at nursing homes all over America. I'm still doing that this year and have an envelope ready to send : ). However it got me wondering whether the nursing home where my Nanna's partner lived in Australia would appreciate some nice handmade cards to give out to their residents as you always hear how the people in the homes love to get a card as many of them are lonely so I sent them an email yesterday asking them if I could do this and they were delighted : ) so here are 2 I have done and I hope to do a few more before I mail off the envelope. These basically just used up scraps of cardstock, papers and stickers. The Noel one used scraps and the Noel is actually a stamp and I went over it in glitter gel pen to make it sparkle, it actually looks a bit like lights! The other one used scraps as well as the Santa being stamped in red and coloured in with a bit of black for the accents and then I put glitter on him too as well as a 3D rubbery sort of greeting. Hopefully more cards to come this week. Have a nice day.

Santa boxes

Hello I've got a team project to show you that my lovely husband Greg and I did together. I needed some little gifts for my friends overseas so we came up with the idea of a Santa box. The box is cut on my Cricut from Tags, Bags Boxes and More 2 in red. We used some black and white felt to make the belt and the other accents on Santa's outfit. Greg came up with a great idea to use a little Ghiradelli chocolate as his belt buckle as it's gold which fits perfectly. I printed out a label on top in black. Inside is going some little treats for winter/Christmas - a hot chocolate packet, a teabag and a pack of Christmas tissues. Didn't they turn out cute? I'm looking forward to sending them out.

Rodeo Drive

Hello today I decided to do a bit of scrapbooking. I do have Christmas cards and things to make but I really just felt like doing something for us (Greg and I) as I've put a lot of time lately into others and my poor scrapbooking got a bit neglected! So I decided to do a page on our recent holiday to California. This was our pictures of Rodeo Drive. I used an olive green cardstock base and some patterned papers, I thought the palm trees was a good choice as Rodeo Drive has these! I used various little stickers and embellishments, I used the straw hat as I was wearing one that day and it was fitting. I cut a little shopping bag from Doodlecharms, same as the flower. I cut the font from the Cricut Craft room alphabet and then faux stitched it in brown gel pen. I added a rope of twine across the bottom and some wooden flowers. Hope you enjoy my page!

Jolly Button snowman

I'm on a bit of a roll today but this is my last card, maybe this week we'll see how much time I have! This one is so cute I love it, the little snowman is adorable! I started with a blue card and matted some striped paper that I had a scrap of. I cut a glittered circle and then Art Philosophy to cut the little slotted tag. I threaded some ribbon through that and then stamped the snowman on the tag. I also stamped Merry Christmas on the striped paper. So I found a white button in my stash and Greg suggested I sand it down a bit to make it less thick so I got out my sanding block and sanded it. I hot glued it on to the snowman then stamped the snowman again on white and just cut out the scarf which I glued onto the button. I can hear "Frosty the Snowman" tune now!

Cards for Share a Card

Hello Happy Wednesday, here are 2 cards I made for a good cause. I came across Shareacard.org on another blog and I thought I would love to contribute. You can take a look here to see what it's about:

http://www.shareacard.org/holidaycards.html

But to give you an idea it's an organization that spreads a bit of Christmas cheer by asking people to make or send cards to seriously ill people. I thought "well I can help with this" as it doesn't take a lot to make a couple of cards and if it makes some ill people smile then it's worth it and you just know it will be appreciated. So here are 2 cards I made both using Art Philosophy. The first one is a round card and a more wintery theme and it has a cutout snowflake aperture. I put some glitter paper behind it and then stamped a small snowflake in the middle to which I heat embossed in white. I also stamped Let it Snow using Versamark and heat embossed in white. Then I added a fabric snowflake and brad.

The next one is more of a traditional Christmas card with a red card, lime green mat and a scrap of of red and white chevron paper cut with pinking shears. I had this circle already cut out from another project so I embossed it with my Cuttlebug. I cut the stocking from Art Philosophy in spotty red paper and some scraps of the glitter paper and then stamped Holiday Joy. The card was all made of scraps but looks great. I'm looking forward to posting these to share a card. Have a nice day!
