Happy Card

Hello Happy Monday, another freezing week here, hopefully that's the last of it. To be positive at least it's sunny and not snowing, I refuse to be negative anymore about well anything, especially the weather, we can't change it and I"m just happy to be with Greg wherever we are!

Speaking of happy thoughts I made this card this morning before I go off and walk the dogs and gym with Greg. I made it for a friend overseas who has been down and anxious. I get anxiety too and not ashamed to admit it, but like me she has a good husband and lots to look forward to but I thought a cheery card would be nice to get in the mail.

Recipe:

Card - Kraft cardstock - Michaels - cut from Wild Card cartridge at 4.5"
Rainbow cut from same cartridge - used scraps form my stash for this
Embossing folder - on the cloud - Cuttlebug swiss dots
Stamp - My Favourite Things (I think it went perfect with the theme of the card)

I really like this card, it's happy and simple, I know she'll love it and it will brighten her day!

Valentine for Ivy

Hello Happy Valentines Day! I hope you had or are having a nice day. I went to the gym this morning, no dogs today so I'm going to be cooking a nice dinner for us later and Greg is going to make a wonderful cake so I'm very excited.

Ivy gave us a Valentines Day card today, a really cute one so naturally she got one as well. I made her this one, the dog looks so cute just like Ivy. I started with a ready made card base and then cut a heart with my Spellbinders die. I cut the puppy from Create a Critter at 2.5 inches. I printed a sentiment on the computer and cut a banner. I hope Ivy likes her card!

Valentines Day sewing

Hello hope you're having a nice weekend it's been snowing all day here today so after we got home from doing the shopping I did a bit of sewing. I wanted to make either a table runner or table cloth for Valentines Day and napkins. So last week at Joann's i was looking at fabric and I found a fabric I liked which was this one as I love the funky hearts and the colors and I said to Greg that I really had to get one with red in it as we have red napkins but he said "why don't you make your own?" so we chose some hot pink material which matched perfect with the hearts in the tablecloth fabric. So during the week they were cut out and then pinned around the hem and then today I just sewed the hems. I really love it and look forward to seeing how it looks all set up on the table for Valentines Day. I also love how the napkin rings that I made last week on my Cricut look around my homemade napkins. Thanks for looking.

Ruby - One of a Kind

Hello Happy Thursday! I apologise about the location of my photo, it's hard to find a good place with light here in winter, I'm investigating buying a little white light box so we'll see. But you do get the idea here with another page for my Ruby Album, I did have a little cry today as she was so lovely and we both miss her a lot, she was taken far too young but we know she is flying around heaven with angel wings on. I was finding it hard to start the page and then I knew Ruby would want an album done on her as she was a diva so once I got started it was easy to do this page.

Recipe:

8 x 8 white sparkly cardstock - DCWV
7 x 7 patterned paper cut to size - DCWV Pocket full of Posies Stack
Title cut in a scrap of coral paper from Artbooking and hen faux stitching in white gel pen
Bone sticker - MAMBI (Me and My Big Ideas)
Cutie pie - die cut - an oldie but a goodie from my stash (think it's Colorbok)

Take me out to the ballgame

Hello Happy Thursday, the sun is shining here but it's very cold but hey at least the sun is shining, I'd rather that than grey any day! Plus the fact I am with my lovely husband is always good, if he's there it's always a good day!

I'm still scrapbooking our California photos, this one is of when we went to see a baseball game in L.A between the Red Sox and Dodgers, we had a great time, it's nice to watch a baseball game on a summer's evening and especially if you are in the front row! I love this photo of us!

I'll put my recipe for my page below, thanks for looking

Background paper - Crate paper
Overlay - cut at 11" from Artbooking in a green shimmery sheet of DCWV cardstock
Green Patterned paper - K & Company
Tag (Photo mat) - scrap of navy cardstock cut in the tag shape from Artbooking (with Artbooking everything is cut to proportion, so I had my dial set at 11" but it's not 11" inch, it gets cut in proportion to the layout)
Border - scrap of red cardstock - Arbooking
Title - scrap of blue cardstock - Artbooking
Journalling - scrap of navy blue cut in Artbooking
Stickers - Karen Foster
Flair Badge - Recollections

Homemade body butter

Hello this is not not really craft related but it is homemade, I decided the other day to make my own body butter as although I use as many natural products as I can, not everything you buy in the shop is 100% natural and sometimes body butters can be expensive, so I found a great recipe here. So I ordered some bulk butters and jars from a place on the internet and then added some drops of lavender oil I had at home. It turned out great and made 2 8oz jars and I still have plenty of raw items to make more so I might make some as gifts too and pretty up the jars a bit. I tried it on my hands and it's lovely, it's slightly oiler than normal but once it sinks in it's great, I found it great for the cracks and splits I'm getting on my fingers at the moment too and best of all it's 100% natural! So I don't mind taking the time and effort to make my own. Maybe you'll be inspired to try some too, thanks for looking.

Valentines Day Napkin Rings

Hello Happy Friday, I'm glad the weekend is here, although we're getting a lot more snow tonight yippee!!! No I don't really mean that! But Greg showed me some photos of a place in Russia today that is so so much worse than Chicago, apparently it's the coldest place on earth so it's true there is always someone worse off or somewhere! So now I will try not to complain when it's so cold here and best of all I have Greg with me so I"m always glad about that!

Anyway onto a fun project I made today. I made some cute Valentines Day napkin rings for our table on Valentines Day. Sorry about first the light on the second picture and my slippers haha in the third one. They were really simple to do. I had a scrap of some lovely Doodlebug paper (I can't remember the name now) but it's a couple of years old, I have really used every scarp of this paper, I love it so much. Anyway I had this lying in my scrap box so I cut it in half and it measured about one inch in width. I cut the length about 7 inches (I measured around my napkins). I went to my Cricut Craft Room and noticed that I had "Valentine Sweets" showing up in there, It must be a freebie at the moment so I cut out the cute teddy holding the heart in layers. I used a CTMH set of sentiment stamps to stamp the greeting. I also added some heart ribbon I got at Michaels around each one. I'm quite pleased with these! Have a nice weekend.
